Dated 9th of July 2009
Hi everyone
Just a quick update to keep you all informed.
Early reports are that the Big pool at Dudmaston has started in exceptional form. A number of 30-40 fish, bags of Tench have been reported with Tench over 6lb been caught.
A few of the members that are new to the waters are using the clubs forum to ask for advice and information, and putting this to good use by catching some fabulous fish. There have even been reports of a 1 1/2 lb brown trout from the Big Pool.
Brim pool is currently very weedy. There are one or two clear spots, but please tackle up appropriately if targeting the fish in Brim.
Seggy is fishing well with a number of nice Carp been taken into double figures, along with the usual Tench.
Reports from the rivers are a little patchy. The Middle Severn is fishing well, with Hampton Loade producing plenty of Barbel and Chub, with the best Barbel reported to me been a fabulous fish of 12lb. The Lower Severn is a little slower, with Bream, Chub and the odd Barbel been caught.
Similarly Wick Grange, which has been producing some nice mixed bags.
The River Teme has been in good form with a good number of Barbel and Chub been caught including Barbel over 10lb's. Please be aware that in wet weather the track down to the Teme can be very difficult, so if the forecast isn't good, please park towards the top end of the track and walk.
I've not had much feedback from the canals, so if you've been up and had a few fish please let me know.
If you haven't already noticed, there is a link on the website to Des Taylor's new SBS bait shop. Des has kindly offered a discount to any club member purchasing bait from his new shop in Kidderminster on production of your current membership card. Des used his own SBS baits to good effect on the Big Pool feature in Angling Times a few weeks ago, so it might be well worth a look.
Don't forget we still have a few places available for the upcoming Eel nights on the Big Pool in July and August. Contact me for more info.
Well, that's enough from me, I'm off fishing,
Steve Williams
