Seggy Pool-Dudmaston Hall

Seggy Pool, Dudmaston Hall

Seggy pool is the smallest of the three lakes on the Dudmaston estate at around 5 acres, with depths from just a few inches to around 4ft and heavily wooded around its banks. Small Tench use to dominate catches and to some extent still do, but there is now a good head of beautiful Carp showing in the lake up to 20lb+, but average typically between 5 and 15lb. There are also Perch, Roach and Rudd present in the lake. Float fishing is probably the main method used, but ledger and stalking with bigger baits also works well. The water is very shallow at the top end with the deeper water along the Dam end. Seggy pool is a quiet and secluded spot, and a fantastic place for juniors to learn the art of proper fishing.
